Welcome to the Center for Advanced Light Microscopy in Osnabrück (CALMOS). As part of the collaborative research center SFB 944 "Physiology and Dynamics of Cellular Microcompartments" and the Department of Biology (University of Osnabrück), CALMOS provides access to advanced fluorescence imaging systems. A core objective of the Department of Biology in Osnabrück is a quantitative characterization of the spatial and the dynamic properties of transiently formed submicroscopic cellular structures. We therefore employ fluorescence imaging techniques with a particular focus on super-resolution microscopy based on single molecule localization-based approaches for covering the dynamic aspects of cellular microcompartments.

CALM-OS provides standard techniques such as 2d and 3d confocal laser scanning imaging, TIRF microscopy, or FRAP and FRET measurements, advanced techniques such as fluorescence lifetime imaging (FLIM), fluorescence (cross)correlation spectroscopy (FC(C)S), or spinning disc confocal imaging, and super-resolution techniques such as multi-color single molecule tracking (SMT), fluorescence photo activation localization microscopy (FPALM), and stochastic reconstruction microscopy (STORM).
